NRG CRAC air conditioning units by HiRef are designed for IT facilities with high thermal density for which precise hygrothermal parameter control and continuous operation are requested. The outstanding performance of the NRG range is provided by inverter-operated BLDC compressors, able to meet cooling demand with extreme precision. The use of EC fans (as standard), electronically controlled lamination valves (as standard ) and configurations with Dual Cooling or Free-Cooling systems ensure high performance with low energy consumption, clearly advantageous to Data Center PUE levels. Thanks to the different configurations, the NRG range is suitable for numerous applications in the Data Center air conditioning field.

 

MAIN ADVANTAGES

The design choices applied to the NRG range allow highly accurate adjustment of hygrothermal parameters in server rooms, with high energy efficiency levels. Above all, when working at partial load, the variable-speed scroll compressors, the electronically controlled expansion valve and the EC fans (as standard) are controlled in such a way as to ensure low PUE levels. All models in the NRG range feature heat exchange coils with hydrophilic coating of the fins. This special coating - together with proper design of air through-flow speeds - aids condensate collection during the dehumidification process, thus avoiding the serious consequences of droplets being carried towards the unit exterior. The Dual Cooling version houses - in addition to the DX evaporating coil and in series with respect to the air flow - a chilled water coil that can, for example, be fed by a chiller. This means the requested cooling capacity can be supplied even where there is a fault on the main refrigerating circuit, thus ensuring maximum system redundancy. In periods when the outdoor air is cooler than the warm air in the Data Center, the external Dry-Cooler, normally used for condensation of the unit's refrigerating circuit, is exploited to generate effective cooling. A second heat exchange coil, positioned in series on the air flow with respect to the DX evaporator, is, in fact, fed with the cold air produced by the Dry-Cooler and provides a part of or 100% of the required cooling capacity. Use of the compressor is reduced and, under total Free-Cooling conditions, switched off, with significant reductions of system PUE levels. The unit has been carefully designed to grant frontal access to components even with the units running. These aspects make routine maintenance easier in full compliance with safety standards.
